Electrical Test Engineer

Beacon Power designs and builds sustainable energy storage systems that can deliver “megawatts for minutes” to provide power grid frequency regulation, as well as support other applications. We’ve recently moved into a new headquarters facility and are expanding our workforce. We have an immediate opening for a Electrical Test Engineer.

Responsibilities:

• Test, troubleshoot and repair high power, medium-voltage inverter systems, both in-house and in the field.
• Create test plans and specs that address component stress and failure mechanisms.
• Create test reports and document recommendations based on findings.
• Generate ECO's involving internal and vendor based design.
• Interface with outside testing lab to conduct regulatory testing in accordance with Beacon internal specification

Minimum Requirements:

• BSEE with five years related experience.
• Knowledge of IEEE 1547 standard for interconnecting
• IEEE 519 standard for harmonic control for in electric power system
• EN 61000-6-2 immunity and emission standards for industrial environment.
• Thorough knowledge of test equipment including scopes and power analyzers.
• Ability to travel to support field units (<25% travel).
• Must maintain positive and productive relationships with other workers in the department, manufacturing personnel and the sales group.
