Beacon Power is a corporate member and proudly supports the work of the following national and regional organizations:
Electricity Storage Association (ESA) www.electricitystorage.org
The Electricity Storage Association is a trade association established to foster development and commercialization of energy storage technologies. Their mission is "to promote the development and commercialization of competitive and reliable energy storage delivery systems for use by electricity suppliers and their customers."
The ESA members represent:
- Electric utilities, ESCOs, IPPs
- Researchers committed to advancing the state of the art in energy storage solutions
- Technology developers involved with advanced batteries, flywheels, SMES, and component suppliers, such as power conversion systems.
GridWise Alliance
http://www.gridwise.org/index.html
The GridWise Alliance unites companies from across the country who are committed to transforming the nation’s electricity grid by integrating emerging energy and information technologies to generate, distribute, and consume energy more efficiently, cleanly, and cost-effectively. Formed in 2003, the Alliance grew out of the growing concerns from utilities and consumers alike, that underinvestment in the nation’s electric grid was reducing reliability, increasing costs, and resulting in an inability of the electric grid to provide for the needs of the future economy. The Alliance provides a forum where members representing a broad range of interests in the electricity sector can meet, exchange ideas, and work cooperatively on a common set of issues, with the goal of moving the US electric grid into the information age.
North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)
http://www.nerc.com/
NERC’s mission is to improve the reliability and security of the bulk power system in North America. To achieve that, NERC develops and enforces reliability standards; monitors the bulk power system; assesses future adequacy; audits owners, operators, and users for preparedness; and educates and trains industry personnel. NERC is a self-regulatory organization that relies on the diverse and collective expertise of industry participants. As the Electric Reliability Organization, NERC is subject to audit by the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and governmental authorities in Canada.
Northeast Sustainable Energy Association
(NESEA) http://www.nesea.org/
The Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) is the
nation's leading regional membership organization focused on
promoting the understanding, development, and adoption of energy
conservation and non-polluting, renewable energy technologies.
For more than thirty years, NESEA has facilitated and enhanced
a network of professionals, practitioners, and other citizens
in pursuit of responsible energy use. Our programs and activities
focus on the northeastern United States, from Washington, DC
to Maine. NESEA is a chapter of the American Solar Energy Society.
Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) http://www.solarelectricpower.org/
The Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) is a collaboration
of utilities, energy service providers and the photovoltaic
industry working together to create and encourage commercial
use of new solar electric power business models. SEPA helps
to establish standards for photovoltaic systems and their
interconnection to the utility grid, hosts cross-industry
workshops, and manages educational and outreach campaigns.
NY Solar Energy Industries Association (NYSEIA) http://www.nyseia.org/
NYSEIA is a not-for-profit group which promotes Solar Energy.
Our diverse Membership aims to:
- educate the public about the wide range of available solar
products and their advantages for consumers and society,

of Electrical Engineers) and the IRE (Institute of Radio Engineers),
date to 1884. From its earliest origins, the IEEE has advanced the theory
and application of electrotechnology and allied sciences,
served as a catalyst for technological innovation and supported
the needs of its members through a wide variety of programs
and services.
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) http://www.asme.org/
Founded in 1880 as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers,
today's ASME is a 120,000-member professional organization
focused on technical, educational and research issues of the
